Title: The “Other Wife” Walked Onto the Stage — Part 2
For the first time, Chloe’s smile disappeared.
She stared at me as if she were waiting for me to start screaming.
I didn’t.
I simply took my daughter’s hand.
“Come on, sweetheart.”
We turned toward the elevators.
Behind us, Chloe hurried after us.
“Ma’am, you can’t go upstairs.”
I stopped.
Slowly, I looked back at her.
“You told me my husband was upstairs with his wife and son.”
Her expression tightened.
“Yes.”
I smiled faintly.
“Then I think I’d like to meet them.”
She stepped in front of the elevator.
“Security!”
Two guards immediately approached.
My daughter pressed against my side.
I bent down and whispered,
“Don’t be scared. Mommy has this.”
Then my phone rang.
My brother.
I answered on speaker.
“Tell me it’s done.”
“It is.”
“What happened?”
“The bank froze every company account connected to Dominic.”
Chloe’s face went white.
My brother continued.
“The emergency credit line has been revoked. Three major investors have withdrawn. And the board meeting has been moved to tonight.”
I looked at Chloe.
She was no longer smiling.
“There’s one more thing,” my brother said.
“What?”
“Dominic just received the notice.”
I ended the call.
The elevator doors opened.
I stepped inside with my daughter.
Chloe didn’t stop us this time.
When the doors opened on the gala floor, hundreds of guests were gathered beneath crystal chandeliers.
Music played.
Waiters carried champagne.
Executives laughed beside enormous floral arrangements.
And in the center of it all stood Dominic.
His arm was wrapped around a beautiful woman.
Beside her stood a little boy.
The boy was wearing a tiny black suit.
My daughter’s fingers tightened around mine.
“Mommy…”
“I see them.”
Dominic looked toward the elevator.
His smile vanished.
The woman beside him turned.
Then she whispered something into his ear.
He immediately pulled away from her.
“Vivienne?”
The room became strangely quiet.
I walked toward him.
My daughter stayed beside me.
Dominic looked terrified.
“What are you doing here?”
I glanced at the woman.
Then at the boy.
Then back at him.
“I came to surprise my husband.”
His face went pale.
The woman stepped forward.
“Dominic, who is she?”
I smiled.
“That’s what I’d like to know.”
Dominic grabbed my arm.
“Not here.”
I pulled away.
“You should have thought about that before introducing another woman as your wife.”
Whispers spread through the ballroom.
Someone raised a phone.
Another guest quietly stepped backward.
Then the woman looked at Dominic.
“You told me she was dead.”
The entire room went silent.
Dominic froze.
I stared at him.
“What did she just say?”
He didn’t answer.
The woman suddenly began crying.
“You told me your first wife died years ago.”
My daughter looked up at me.
“Mommy, why is she lying?”
I couldn’t answer.
Because something about the woman’s words didn’t make sense.
I had been married to Dominic for seven years.
We had a daughter.
We lived together.
We shared everything.
At least, I thought we did.
Then my brother called again.
This time his voice sounded different.
“Vivienne, you need to leave that building.”
“Why?”
“We found something.”
My stomach tightened.
“What?”
“Dominic wasn’t secretly maintaining another family.”
I stared at my husband.
“Then what’s happening?”
My brother paused.
“The woman beside him isn’t his wife.”
I looked at her.
“Then who is she?”
His answer made my blood run cold.
“She is connected to the people who tried to destroy your family ten years ago.”
I felt the room tilt.
Dominic suddenly stepped toward me.
“Vivienne, please. You need to listen to me.”
I raised my hand.
“No.”
He stopped.
“You’ve lied to me long enough.”
Then my daughter noticed something.
She pointed toward the little boy.
“Mommy…”
“What is it?”
“He has Daddy’s necklace.”
I looked closer.
The boy was wearing a small silver chain.
The same chain Dominic had worn since the day we met.
My heart stopped.
I turned toward Dominic.
“Who is that child?”
He said nothing.
The woman began sobbing.
And then the little boy looked directly at me and whispered:
“Mommy said you’re the reason my real father disappeared.”
I couldn’t breathe.
Because suddenly, the gala wasn’t about Dominic’s secret wife.
It was about a secret my husband had been hiding for years.
And somewhere downstairs, police officers had just entered the building.
