My Blind Husband Finally Revealed Why My Parents Hated Him… Then He Put an Old Recording on the Table

PART 2 — My Blind Husband Finally Revealed Why My Parents Hated Him… Then He Put an Old Recording on the Table

Adrian didn’t answer immediately.

He reached into the inside pocket of his jacket and placed a small recorder on the table between us.

I stared at it.

“What is that?”

“Something I was never supposed to keep.”

My hands went cold.

“Adrian, you’re frightening me.”

“I know.”

He pressed a button.

At first, there was only static.

Then I heard my father’s voice.

My heart stopped.

“I don’t care what happens to the girl. She cannot find out.”

I looked at Adrian.

“What is this?”

He gently covered my hand with his.

“Keep listening.”

My mother’s voice followed.

“She’ll destroy everything if she learns the truth.”

Then my father said something that made my entire body go numb.

“That’s why Adrian has to stay away from her.”

I covered my mouth.

The recording continued.

They were discussing money.

Millions of dollars.

A company I recognized immediately.

My father’s company.

For years, I had believed my parents had built their fortune honestly.

But Adrian explained that several years before our wedding, he had been working with a nonprofit that helped people with disabilities access employment and financial services.

During an audit, he had discovered something strange.

A charitable foundation bearing my father’s name had been receiving enormous donations.

Except the money wasn’t really donations.

It was being transferred through several companies.

Then returned through offshore accounts.

Money laundering.

Tax fraud.

And something worse.

“My parents?”

Adrian nodded.

“I didn’t know how much they were involved at first.”

“Then how did you find out?”

He reached for another document.

“The night before our wedding, your father contacted me.”

I stared at him.

“What did he want?”

“He offered me money.”

“How much?”

“Five million dollars.”

I couldn’t breathe.

“To leave you.”

Adrian’s voice cracked.

“I refused.”

“And that’s when they threatened you?”

He nodded.

“They told me they would destroy my reputation. They said nobody would believe a blind man accusing a wealthy family.”

I looked down at the documents.

There were dates.

Account numbers.

Copies of emails.

Names of people I had known my entire life.

Then I noticed something.

One name appeared repeatedly.

My sister.

I looked up.

“Why is she here?”

Adrian went silent.

“Claire…”

“What did my sister do?”

He hesitated.

Then handed me a final envelope.

Inside was a photograph.

My sister was standing beside my father’s business partner.

The date was two months before my wedding.

On the back was a handwritten note.

She agreed to marry his son if Claire disappeared from the family.

I felt sick.

My sister hadn’t simply abandoned me.

She had helped them replace me.

Then Adrian said the part I wasn’t prepared for.

“There is one more thing.”

“What?”

“Your parents didn’t cut you out of the will.”

I stared at him.

“What?”

“They told you they did.”

He slid another document toward me.

It was a copy of my father’s original estate plan.

My name was still there.

So were the names of my children.

But beneath them was a handwritten condition.

I read it twice.

Then a third time.

“If Claire ever discovers the truth about the family accounts, control of the estate transfers to her.”

My hands began trembling.

Adrian nodded.

“Your parents spent ten years pretending you had been disinherited.”

“Why?”

“Because they were terrified you’d eventually discover what belonged to you.”

I couldn’t speak.

Then my phone suddenly rang.

Unknown number.

I answered.

A man’s voice whispered:

“Claire, don’t go home tonight.”

My heart stopped.

“Who is this?”

“You need to listen carefully.”

I looked at Adrian.

The voice continued.

“Your husband found the truth ten years ago.”

A pause.

“And your parents know he kept the evidence.”

My stomach dropped.

Then the stranger said the words that made Adrian suddenly stand.

“They’re coming for it tonight.”

The call ended.

Adrian turned toward the restaurant entrance.

His face had gone completely pale.

“Claire…”

“What?”

He whispered:

“That wasn’t a stranger.”

I stared at him.

“Who was it?”

Adrian reached for my hand.

“It was your father.”
