MY SON’S WIFE ABANDONED HER TRIPLETS—15 YEARS LATER, SHE CAME BACK FOR THEM

My son’s wife left her six-month-old triplet daughters with me because she said she “wanted a better life.”

Fifteen years later, she suddenly appeared at our door expecting to become their mother again.

But the girls had been waiting for that moment.

My son died while his wife, Vanessa, was still pregnant with their triplet daughters.

A roadway accident took him from us.

Those months were incredibly difficult, but somehow we kept moving forward.

When Vanessa gave birth, I helped with everything so she would never have to feel alone.

But only six months later, she arrived at my house on Willowcrest Lane in Bellmere carrying the girls.

Then she said:

“Take them. I want a better life! I can’t handle the bottles, diapers, and staying awake all night with three babies. I still have time to marry someone wealthy and finally build the life I deserve.”

I still remember standing in the doorway holding Sophie, Clara, and Lily as Vanessa climbed into a taxi.

Then she drove away.

She left.

I stayed.

I accepted every extra job I could find.

I rocked the girls to sleep at night.

Packed their school lunches.

Braided their hair every morning.

And made sure I was there whenever they needed someone.

For the next fifteen years, Vanessa never once asked about them.

The only glimpses I had of her came through social media, where she and a man appeared to spend their time traveling to expensive resorts.

Meanwhile, the girls grew up.

Last night, the four of us were home watching a movie and sharing popcorn because it was the weekend.

Then someone knocked on the door.

I opened it.

Vanessa stood outside.

For several seconds, I couldn’t move.

She walked straight into the house as though fifteen years had never happened.

Then she looked at the girls.

“Oh, sweethearts,” she said. “We can finally be together again. You have to understand, I needed time to get my life together.”

She smiled.

“But now I HAVE MONEY, so it’s time for us to be a FAMILY again.”

I looked toward the girls.

They exchanged glances.

Then they whispered something to one another.

And smiled.

Sophie stepped forward.

“Mom, of course. Come inside.”

Vanessa’s expression brightened.

Then Sophie added:

“We actually have a GIFT for you. We always knew you might come back someday.”

She hurried upstairs.

A few moments later, Sophie returned carrying a beautifully wrapped gift bag.

She placed it in Vanessa’s hands.

Vanessa smiled as she opened it.

Then her expression changed.

She stared inside.

And suddenly shouted:

“HOW COULD YOU—”
