PART 2 — The Hidden Rooms Revealed What Really Happened to Lily
Detective Bennett stood at the bottom of the stairs, staring into the darkness.
Nobody spoke.
The air smelled damp and stale, as if the underground rooms had been sealed for years.
Then her flashlight moved across the wall.
There were scratches.
Dates.
Names.
And suddenly, Noah saw something that made his knees weak.
LILY.
Her name had been carved into the wood.
“She’s been here,” he whispered.
Detective Bennett immediately ordered everyone to stay back.
The police searched the first room.
It contained an old chair, a small table, several blankets, and boxes filled with photographs.
But there was no Lily.
Then an officer discovered a second door.
Behind it was a narrow passage leading beneath the house.
At the end stood a locked metal door.
Bennett forced it open.
Inside, they found dozens of objects belonging to different people—photographs, letters, jewelry, identification cards, and newspaper clippings about missing persons.
This wasn’t just about Lily.
Harold had apparently been collecting evidence for years.
But why?
Then Noah noticed a photograph lying on the floor.
It showed Lily.
She wasn’t sixteen anymore.
She was older.
Much older.
And she was standing beside a woman Noah had never seen before.
On the back of the photograph were five words:
“She knows what happened.”
Detective Bennett immediately sent the image to the police station.
Within minutes, investigators identified the woman.
Her name was Evelyn Carter.
She had once lived three towns away.
And according to old records, she had disappeared shortly after Lily.
Margaret stared at the photograph with trembling hands.
“Who is she?”
Bennett looked at her carefully.
“We don’t know yet.”
Then one of the officers shouted from the passage.
They had found another hidden compartment.
Inside was a stack of letters.
The oldest was dated fifteen years earlier.
The newest was dated only three months ago.
Noah grabbed the latest envelope.
His hands shook as he read the name written across the front.
Margaret Carter.
His mother gasped.
“That isn’t possible.”
But Detective Bennett had already opened it.
There were only two sentences inside:
“If you’re still looking for Lily, stop searching the old house.”
Bennett turned the page.
The second sentence made everyone freeze.
“Your daughter is alive, and she knows who betrayed her.”
Margaret collapsed into Daniel’s arms.
For fifteen years, they had believed they were searching for a missing girl.
Now they had proof that Lily might still be alive.
But the biggest mystery remained:
Who had been sending Harold information about Lily all these years?
And why had Harold hidden the truth from the family?
Then Detective Bennett noticed something else.
The notebook they had found earlier contained a list of dates.
One date was circled in red.
It was tomorrow.
Bennett immediately looked at Noah.
“We may not have fifteen years to solve this.”
Because somewhere, someone knew the police had discovered the hidden rooms.
And before sunrise…
the person who had kept Lily’s secret for fifteen years was already on the way back to town.
