The Korean Betrayal: Uncovering Joon’s Darkest Secret

. I dialed Emily’s number, my breath hitching in my throat, but it went straight to voicemail. I looked through the kitchen window, watching Joon and his father still arguing intensely in Korean. I forced myself to step back near the doorway, hiding behind the accent wall, to hear the rest of Joon’s devastating confession before making my next move.
Young-ho slammed his hand on the table, his voice trembling with shame.
“You married her under false pretenses, Joon! Using a innocent girl to secure your position in her father’s multinational firm and clearing your massive hidden gambling debts with her savings account—it is disgusting. She thinks you love her, but you are just using her legal status and her family’s connections!”
Joon looked down, but his voice was cold, stripped of the gentle tone he always used with my daughter.
“It was the only way to save myself from bankruptcy and prison. Emily’s father has the political power to wipe my record clean. If I have to pretend to be the perfect husband for a few years to get what I need, I will do it. No one can ever tell her. If she leaves me now, the creditors will destroy me, and our family name will be ruined.”
Hearing those words, the illusion of my perfect son-in-law shattered completely. He didn’t love Emily; she was merely a financial shield and a ticket to corporate safety. I didn’t wait for Emily to call back. I walked right back into the kitchen, my slippers clicking loudly on the hardwood floor. Joon and Young-ho froze, their faces turning completely pale as I looked Joon dead in the eye and spoke to him in fluent, flawless Korean.
“The creditors won’t destroy you, Joon,” I said, my voice cutting through the silence like ice. “Because I will do it first. pack your bags, because Emily is leaving you tonight.”
