What the Police Found Behind the Locked Door

PART 2 — What the Police Found Behind the Locked Door

The officers stood frozen.

For several seconds, nobody moved.

The room was almost completely dark, except for a small window near the ceiling.

Then one officer raised his flashlight.

What they saw made him immediately lower it again.

There were dozens of empty meat bags scattered across the floor.

But there were no bodies.

No dead animals.

No evidence of the terrible crime everyone had imagined.

Instead, they noticed something far stranger.

At the back of the room stood several large metal containers.

Each one was connected to a thick hose leading through a hole in the wall.

And behind them, they heard something.

A faint scratching.

Then another.

The officers looked at each other.

“Did you hear that?”

Lidia began crying.

“Please,” she whispered. “You have to understand. I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.”

One officer stepped toward the containers.

“Then tell us what’s inside.”

Lidia shook her head.

“I promised my son.”

“Your son is dead,” the officer replied.

She looked at him.

“No.”

The room became silent.

“He isn’t dead.”

Ovidiu, who had followed the police inside, stared at her in disbelief.

“Lidia… everyone in the village knows your son died seven years ago.”

She slowly pointed toward the metal containers.

“They think he died.”

The officer opened the first container.

Inside were dozens of bags of frozen meat.

But beneath them was something else.

A medical oxygen tank.

Then they opened the second.

More meat.

More medical equipment.

And finally, behind a heavy curtain, they found a small hidden room.

There was a bed.

A generator.

Medicine.

Blankets.

And a man lying unconscious beneath them.

Ovidiu covered his mouth.

The man was older, extremely thin, and covered in scars.

But Lidia knew him instantly.

“My son,” she whispered.

The police called an ambulance.

As paramedics rushed inside, Lidia finally told them the truth.

Her son had not died.

Seven years earlier, he had witnessed a violent crime involving powerful men from outside the village.

They had tried to silence him.

He survived, but suffered severe injuries and developed a condition that required constant care.

Lidia had hidden him because she believed the people who attacked him were still looking for him.

The sixty kilos of beef weren’t being eaten.

They were being used to feed a small group of rescued animals and to produce food for the dozens of stray dogs living near the abandoned ship.

But there was one thing Lidia had never told anyone.

She wasn’t only protecting her son.

She had been hiding evidence.

Inside the abandoned ship, beneath the floorboards, police discovered boxes containing old photographs, documents, and recordings connected to the crime from seven years earlier.

The investigation suddenly became much bigger than anyone imagined.

And just as the officers prepared to remove Lidia’s son from the room, he opened his eyes.

He looked directly at his mother.

Then he whispered four words:

“They found us again.”

Everyone turned toward the door.

Because outside, parked silently beside the forest, was a black car.

And someone was watching them.
